I didn\u2019t know what to expect from this show, having just been invited to \u2018One Night Only\u2019. I knew it would be good but, wow, I didn\u2019t know HOW good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The show was a night of numbers from different shows with some familiar faces and some I\u2019ve never seen before. There was no set, just a twinkling backdrop. No props except, on a couple of occasions, a chair. No costume \u2013 just Youth (back) Onstage T shirts. None of that was needed. They just let the performances speak for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The very first song was a group number. I thought the music was a little loud in places but that was the only time it was anything less than perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know Jack Chambers can act and I know he\u2019s really funny but he can really belt out a number. He sang with real feeling and, my, what a voice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dan Burton-Peet had tears running down my face and the hairs standing up on the back of my neck when he sang \u2018She Used to Be Mine\u2019. I was just wowed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kia Gates was a real surprise. She has a gorgeous voice, and I loved hearing her solo singing but, when she was singing with others, her harmonies were really beautiful. Her singing was very, very lovely when quiet and SO strong when belting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some other standout performances included Hannah Thomas singing \u2018Taylor The Latte Boy\u2019. Nico Eynon-Colon with \u2018You\u2019ll Be Back\u2019. His voice was great and his performance was so funny. Ellie Burley sang \u2018With You\u2019 exquisitely and Dylan Hartnell surprised me with his glorious voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u2018Jersey Boys\u2019 medley was absolutely excellent. It got the biggest cheer of the evening and \u2018Sherry\u2019 got a huge squeal of joy from the audience. These 4 young men were so good together and I was absolutely blown away by James Woodward and Dan Burton-Peet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every time I see YOS, I think \u2018this is the one, they\u2019ve topped themselves\u2019. And, every time, they amaze me all over again. I know I\u2019ve said it before but I cannot believe these young people are amateurs. Their professionalism shines through in everything they do. This one though, WOW! They had only ONE DAY of rehearsals together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What an amazing night. I\u2019m just really sad it was \u2018One Night Only\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
