Hi Birmingham & District Theatre Guild,
My name is Peter, and I’m VP of People at Ello, an edtech startup building an AI teacher for kids. As an umbrella organisation representing amateur theatres across the West Midlands, you’re perfectly placed to help us find what we’re looking for — and I wanted to reach out to see if you’d be willing to share this opportunity with your member groups.
We’re looking for a British voice actor to play Bolt, one of our original characters — analytical, nerdy, and enthusiastic about how things work. He’s slightly anxious and lovably literal (a little robotic in his precision, but warm underneath). Think Fix-It Felix.
Note: this isn’t a traditional voice-over role. Ello’s characters don’t just read scripts — they listen, respond, and teach kids in real time. If selected, your recordings will be used to build an AI voice model so the character can have real, live conversations with children as they learn. I want to be upfront about that since I know it’s not for everyone.
The details:
• Contract | Remote | $5,000 voice rights license
• Deadline to submit: EOD Saturday, April 4
• Full casting call with character descriptions and audition script: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X6lnWUz4YWcxOESJHJrfDuVbpO8TDgSM-TiR308oqZo/edit
If you’re able to circulate this to your member groups, it would be a huge help. Happy to answer any questions at voiceactor@ello.com.
Best,
Peter
